Kids Making a Difference: Robbie Bond, Founder of Kids Speak for Parks

Robbie is a 10 year old from Honolulu, HI that loves nature. Kids Speak for Parks is a non-profit that Robbie started when he was 9 years old. Kids Speak for Parks is dedicated to educating youth about the importance of national parks and monuments.  We are so excited to have Robbie as one of our featured role models in our upcoming Wonder Crate box and to be able to ask him some questions about how he is thinking BIG and making a positive impact.

What positive impact do you hope to have in the world? I hope to inspire the next generation of future leaders to become environmental stewards for our public lands.

What steps have you made towards your goal?  I have spoken to classrooms across the country and have let kids know that they have a voice to speak up for what they believe in.  I have received letters, emails, and messages from adults and children all over the world that support the mission of Kids Speak For Parks.

What is your next step/plan for the future? I am launching a campaign called Kids Speak For Clean Parks to reduce the use of single use plastics in our national parks and monuments. I am creating Google Expedition VR lessons on our national parks and monuments for all schools.

What top 3 inner skills have you used along the way?  I show compassion by listening to the stories from the people I have meet in my travels of how the reduction of the national monuments would effect their connection to the land. I show bravery and confidence by speaking up for what I believe in and speaking up on the behalf of others that don’t have an opportunity.

Children can also join the Kids Speak for Parks Litterati team and “join the worldwide community that’s cleaning the planet, one piece of litter at a time.” And use the reusable straws from Klean Kanteen in your Wonder Crate to help us #beatplastic pollution together!
