How to Choose the Right Subscription Box for your Kid

The holidays are right around the corner and subscription boxes make a great gift for kids. Who doesn’t love getting a treat in the mail every month? With so many great choices out there for kids, choosing the right subscription box for your kid is not an easy thing to do.

Here are some tips to take the stress out of subscription box shopping and help you find a subscription box that you both will love.

1. Age Appropriate

What is the point of buying baby stuff for your toddler, or teen stuff for your 8 year old. You can find subscription boxes for all ages, from newborns to teens. You should especially take into account the age of your child if you are purchasing a box that contains clothes, since we all know that for kids, even three months make a huge difference since they grow up so fast.

2. Gender

Even if you are raising a gender-less child, it is still very important to think about it before purchasing a subscription box. You will be able to find boxes that are dedicated for boys and boxes that are especially designed for girls. Still you may also find mixed boxes with both, or others that do not identify with any gender, so you can satisfy your child, while raising them as you want to.

3. Social Responsibility

Many subscription companies are now realizing the importance of giving back to the community. Not only can you give your child a gift, you can help someone else. When you purchase a Kidbox, they make a clothing donation to a charity of your choice. At Wonder Crate, a portion of each sales goes to an organization started by a child to better the world.

4. Needs vs Interests

Are you looking for a box to fulfill a need or to save time? Clothing boxes that contain everything from accessories to shoes are a great way to meet the needs of a growing child and save you a trip to the store.

Other boxes are designed to educate and entertain. Do you have a budding artist? Look for a craft box. A child that loves putting things together? Check out one of the many STEM boxes available. Want to raise a reader? Look for a book of the month club. There are even boxes that foster personal growth and inspire kids to make the world a better place.

5. Make it a Team Effort

Involve your child in the decision making process. Pick five or six subscription boxes for your child and present each to him/her. Let them decide which one they want to receive, and then purchase the one they choose. Thus both of you will be happy

6. Decide how Often you Wish to Receive the Box

The last step is to decide how often you wish to receive the box (if this is an option). There are companies that allow you to choose between receiving the box every week, month, or longer periods. Many times you will receive a discount if you commit to 3, 6 or 12 months and pay upfront.

Now just sit back and wait for the mail to arrive. It is like having a birthday every month!
